deacons

The deacons at Grace Baptist Church are servants.  That is what the word “deacon” means.  It is a real church office identified in the Scriptures, and that means these men have a specific work to do along with the authority given to them by the church to do it.  They are primarily provided to the church to assist the elders by off-loading many pressing needs related to our church life in order to free up the elders so they can give themselves to their appointed work of shepherding.  How valuable these men are!

Their work consists in a ministry of mercy and of the business affairs of the church.  The deacons see that merciful care is ministered to the sick, the sorrowing, and the aged.  They make sure such as these receive spiritual and physical comfort.  And they minister the Word of God as they serve in this ministry.  They also administer this church's benevolence funds, and provide counsel to those in need.  They are always looking for opportunities to do good, especially to those who are of the household of faith.

The deacons are given the authority to administer the business affairs of this church.  They prepare the church budget and when the congregation has approved the budget, they have the responsibility to manage it. Our men have implemented specific precautions to insure the financial integrity of Grace Baptist’s ministry.  The deacons also take responsibility for care and maintenance of the church's properties.  If our facilities are safe and attractive, it is because these servants are doing their God-given tasks.  And they are very faithful in doing so.  We thank the Lord for giving such men to us.
